Monoprinting fun
Recently I did a weekend workshop with NZ printmaker Sheyne Tuffery, a very generous and relaxed teacher who shared his techniques and tools and made it fun and easy.
While I did printmaking as part of my arts degree - lithography mainly but screenprinting and etching too - it’s been a while. I was inspired enough to go out and buy a Geli plate, rollers and inks immediately but as yet haven’t had time to get into it. Life got in the way as it tends to, and often I put art at the bottom of my list - sigh!
We used all sorts of materials to create textures and relief shapes, including leaves and lace. One of the photos here is of my palette, which in itself is an inspiring abstract work.
Three of my prints created with leaves, lace, kete woven bag, and then removed to create abstract spaces.
Rolling out three colours, red/black and yellow, and then drawing back into the ink.
A monoprint abstract work
The residue of inks left on the palette which I then played around with. An abstract painting in the making…
